Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year was a very cool experience for us. The boys had a field trip to China town and Mark and I were both able to go. We visited one of the largest Buddhist temples in Singapore. We saw all the Chinese lanterns and "red packets" every where. Chinese New Year is more exciting than Christmas time here. Places shut down for days and caterers, hair salons, dry cleaners, and cleaning services get back logged for weeks.

We had the opportunity to see a couple of "lion dances". Some people hire the lions to come dance in their home to scare away the bad spirits. They play loud music and drums and ride in trucks to their destinations. Then they get out and do their dance. It was so cool. We would be at our house and then we would hear the drums and we'd run outside to try to find out where the lion dance was happening. It was very cool.
